I think I met Gilbert and George

Or rather Gilbert OR George.
Let me explain.
Yesterday when we went on our little stroll around Whitechapel I decided on a detour to Spitalfields Market. If you walk down Brick Lane from the north you first get a section of Vintage shops( mostly clothing) then a section of impossibly hip shops and bars around the old Truman Brewery and finally a section of Curry Houses towards the southern end. In that last section you will see the Brick Lane Mosque( which in itself has an interesting history) on your right. It has a beautiful Minaret.

Turn right immediately after the mosque and you are in Fournier Street, one of my favourite London streets. It is fairly unassuming and small but is made up of wonderful Georgian houses and has a real air of history about it. The houses were originally built for Huguenot silk weavers in the 1720s and most have been beautifully restored.

I let the wonder husband and little b go ahead while I took some photos. About halfway down the street I noticed a very dapper looking gentleman in an immaculately cut green tweed suit exiting one of the houses. I didn't take too much notice to be honest but I remember thinking he fitted the street and atmosphere perfectly. Then I continued on down the road towards Spitalfields( he went in the other direction). When I got home last night I read up a bit about the history of Fournier Street and was informed(by wikipedia no less, so it must be true!) that artist duo Gilbert and George live and work on the street. I am fairly certain that the dapper gentleman I saw was indeed one of them, and no I haven't had the inclination to figure out which one it was, I think not being sure adds an air of mystery to the whole thing.
Wikipedia further informed me that Tracy Emin also lives on Fournier Street, now I assure you I would have recognised her, I'm not a complete ignoramus!
Maybe I should write a post about my London celebrity sightings, though to be honest, none of them are super exciting...no actually, I lie, one of them was.
Here it goes because it probably isn't worth its own post: I once, many years ago, nearly ran into Nick Cave, twice within the space of a week, on Peckham High Street of all places. It was most peculiar. I did later read that he was recording in the area at the time so I'm sure I wasn't hallucinating!
