The one with the obligatory end of year recap...

DSCF3018
I never really like doing this because my list from the start of the year usually makes me cringe, but I just read Holly's post on Decor8 and felt a little inspired.
So I dug out last year's list and applied a critical eye to it. Written in bold is what I hoped to achieve in 2011.
Here we go:

go with the flow
This hasn't always been easy. Who knew that raising a baby would be hard work?
As a family we made it through the year with minimal tears, a reasonable amount of sleep and many, many smiles.

enjoy the moment
I think I did, apart from the occasional grumpy fit in the middle of the night.( I really can not be held responsible for things I say at 3am)

shift about 5 years worth of weight
Hahahahaha...

explore my hometown
Did fairly well on this, we went on many lovely walks and excursions. I have been a little slack lately though, mainly because it has been cold and miserable.

look up more
Nope, my eyes have been welded firmly to the ground. It kind of seemed more important to know where I was going while either carrying or pushing a baby. I'll keep that one for another year when she is old enough to look up with me.

continue to bust the stash
I'm not sure what I was thinking when I wrote that(considering I had a 3 month old at the time). Presumably I thought I would have time on my hands.
Let me tell you one thing if you have just had a baby: you will not have spare time on your hands for the foreseeable future. Just resign yourself to that fact and it will be much easier.

declutter,declutter, declutter
I had been quite good at keeping on top of all our stuff and clothes and toys in this tiny apartnent. Until grandma arrived with a wagonload of toys 2 days after Christmas.
More storage, I need more storage...

Reconnect with practice
I struggled with this until I went to see my teacher a couple of months ago. Just to talk to her and be in her calming presence has made me feel much more positive and has untangled a few things that had been rumbling around in my mind.
Mindfulness in the way to go while wrestling with a toddler.

And finally:
My main and most awesome accomplishment in 2011, achieved in equal partnership with the most brilliant wonder husband, has been to raise a sweet 3 month old baby to a walking, talking(after a fashion), opinionated, gorgeous, happy, kind and joyful 15month old toddler. I am so thankful I get to be her Mama.
